pillow forts: the most under used and undervalued strategy in EDH

Image
The pillow fort strategy is in my personal opinion a very under used and undervalued strategy. It is a strategy that you might want to consider for your next EDH deck. I think it would be good for every commander player to at least try one game with a pillow fort deck and i will try and convince you of the greatness of the pillow fort. the pillow fort strategy is described by the mtg wiki as:  Pillowfort  is a strategy for certain multiplayer formats, particularly the  Commander format . The strategy is political in nature, attempting to make being attacked by an opponent undesirable or futile, thus making the rest of the opponents attack each other. This is achieved through cards that prevent damage or punishing players for attacking, so called Pillows. This also allows players enough time to assemble a  combo  or series of plays which let them win the game. This explanation highlights some of the strengths of this strategy, which in turn allow it to be a fun ...

most enjoyable combos

Image
Most combos are geared to go infinite and instantly win. well that isn't the main purpose of the combos in this blog post. They may be strong or use combo pieces which may in and of itself be very easy to take infinite, that however is not the goal. The goal of the combos is which one will grants the greatest amount of satisfaction. These will not directly win you the game, but will make it very unlikely that you will lose if they do not get removed or neutralized ๐Ÿ˜. So here come 3 of my favorite combos. 1. kenrith, the returned king and willbreaker Kenrith is very easy to take infinite with for instance the use of Zirda, the dawnwaker or a Biomancers familiar. these 2 cards reduce the manacost of abilities and are able to create infinite mana whit multiple cards and Kenrith is one of them. I however think it is much more fun to use willbreaker and steal every creature in sight. Willbreaker will work with lots of other cards which have an ability that can target a creature, but i ...

how do i get my friends to play commander?

Image
Commander isn't much fun when you have no one to play with. That's why I have written this guide for all the lonely commander players. In this post, I'll guide you through various scenarios that you might encounter when getting your friends to play. I understand that not every friend group is the same so take this advice with a grain of salt and do not worry if  you're a lone wolf, I got you covered as well๐Ÿ˜.  (These tips may also work when trying to get your friends to play a normal game of mtg) 1. You have friends who play some magic Let's discuss this first scenario, you have some friends that play magic, they just haven't tried the glorious format also known as edh. Luckily for u, this is the easiest one to pull off(unless your friends are extremely suborn). In this case, I am assuming that you have some commander decks of your own. The thing that holds most players back is the investment of a commander deck. This hesitation prevents them from ever getting ...

cards I'm exited for from modern horizons 2

Image
Here are some of the cards from modern horizons 2 that i am looking forward to playing with. These will most likely be incorporated into my own decks. 1. Ragavan, nimble pilferer This little monkey looks like a very fun commander. The one mana cost gives u the opportunity to play it in turn 1(which isn't very common). So you get your lil monkey in turn one and start swinging in turn 2. After dealing combat damage to a player, ravagan gives you a treasure and you exile the top card of that players libary and may play it. This ability sounds super fun and could really shine in the early, mid or late game. You would be able to steal multiple cards, with multiple combat phases and double strike. I really like abilities which give you the chance to steal cards of your opponents and use them against them. To have this ability on a one mana card is great and i will certainly be building a deck with this little ๐Ÿ’ in the near future. 2. Thrasya, tempest's roar This is a big green creat...

the 5 best budget counterspells for commander

Image
Counterspells are one of the best(if not the best๐Ÿ˜) things in magic. It allows you to either prevent treaths from ever reaching rhe tabel, preventing a player from ever being a threat or just to fuck with someone. The possibilities are endless. Ill give my 5 favorite counterspell(on a budget) These 5 cards are of course heavily influenced by decks in my playgroup and will be limited to a budget of 5 euro's per card. 1 dovins veto This might be the best counterspell if you really need something to go through. Because for a white and a blue you get a counterspell that can not be countered. This will effectively result in your spell coming trough. This counter is amazing against other blue and control decks. 2.Insidious will Insidious will is a great card that gives you multiple options. It gives you the option to counter, change the targets or copy the spell. This gives you a lot of versatility.  3 Unwind\rewind Unwind and rewind are p...
